What pants material hides farts best?

This is a serious question. I've noticed that sometimes when I try to sneak out a fart, the smell seems to get "caught" in my pants and it isn't released for a long time, maybe until I move or stand up. Other times when I let one go, it's immediately evident and escapes readily into the air. What determines how different trousers conceal flatulence better or worse?
