Pavliks victory disprove myths?

In my opinion Pavlik is a throwback fighter. His style is so basic so one dimensional yet he managed to defeat one of the slickest boxers out there. For so many years people have stated how speed was almost everything and utterly dismissing old training techniques and the basics of boxing. Well my answer is being slick and fast isn`t everything sometimes exercising a good jab with a solid straight right can really get it done as well. It really made me think when some of these folks dismiss old fighters in lew of these new slick fast fighters. Did the old guys really have it right? What`s your thoughts?
