Suggestions for an in depth Singleplayer RTS?

I'm looking for a fun singleplayer RTS along the lines of Black and White in style. e.g. build a town, expand it, possibly build an army and have some threats in the environment but not overly involved with military. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.
